Ethics & Responsibility

CEVRO University, the publisher of the NPPE journal, is dedicated to maintaining the integrity of the work it publishes. Academic publishing's value is dependent on everyone involved acting ethically. The following points are only meant to provide a broad overview and are not intended to be exhaustive. We encourage our authors and editors to visit the website of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). We are committed to keeping an accurate academic record and adhere to COPE's Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing (DOI: 10.24318/cope.2019.1.12). If a journal ceases publication and we remove the journal's website, all online articles will be triggered for Open Access via the LOCKSS archive for permanent preservation.

CEVRO University is committed to

• maintaining journal editors' editorial independence

• assisting journal editors in running their journals in an ethical and transparent manner; and

• maintaining an accurate and transparent academic record using the Open Journal System (PKP-OJS) platform, including publishing corrections and retracting articles when necessary.

• promoting fairness and equality and speak out against discrimination.

• promoting transparency of the record and respect for the academic environment
  respect the confidentiality of others.

Authors

Authors should ensure that:

• their work is original and written by them

• their work has not been previously published and has been submitted only to the journal

• where material is taken from other sources (including their own published writing) the source is clearly cited and appropriate permission is obtained

• their work does not infringe on any rights of others, including privacy rights and intellectual property rights

• their data is true and not manipulated

• their data is their own or that they have permission to use data reproduced in their paper

• any real or apparent conflicting or competing interest is clearly stated on submission of their paper (this would include funding assistance)

• they adhere to all research ethics guidelines of their discipline, particularly where human or animal subjects are involved

Above all, authors should be transparent. For example, if an author is unsure whether her paper is original (for example, whether it may be considered duplicate publication), she should notify the journal's editor. If the editor decides to publish it, the paper should clearly state any potential overlap. For more information, please visit the Authors Guidelines.

Reviewers

Reviewers must:

• maintain the review process's confidentiality;

• refrain from contacting the authors directly without the journal's permission; and

• immediately notify their journal editor of any real or potential competing interest that could affect the impartiality of their reviewing, and decline to review where appropriate.

• act in a fair and impartial manner

Of course, we are aware that academics will come from a specific school of thought and/or may have strong ties to a specific interest. All we ask is that reviewers strive to be objective. Editors

Editors should:

• maintain and promote consistent ethical policies for their journals;

• oversee and enforce those policies as needed in a fair and consistent manner;

• ensure the confidentiality of the review process;

• exercise the highest standards of personal integrity in their work as journal editor, recognizing and planning for instances where they may have a competing interest or the appearance of a competing interest; and 

• work with authors, reviewers, and editors.
